Simplified View
|
This module is not available in the current version. It will be available in a future version. Use this page for reference only. |
Simplified View helps you maintain a selected set of configuration fields. The UI shows these fields as grouped “views”. Groups and the Root paths filter make large configuration models easier to use. Use this module to browse the fields in the UI. If your role allows it, you can also manage groups and items. You can also apply many changes safely with export and import.
Where to find parameter descriptions: The forms show field labels only. The items list shows the first line of each item description. Open an item to read the full description in the details panel.
When to use it
Use Simplified View to do these tasks:
-
Browse the fields in the simplified UI.
-
Manage groups and their items, if your role allows it.
-
Use Root paths (schemas) to narrow the scope.
-
Export a snapshot for backup or change review.
-
Import a prepared JSON file to apply many updates safely.
Before you start
-
Open Simplified View from the Angular Console dashboard.
-
Select a Client type (for example DEF, MC, or SC) in the toolbar.
-
Check your role.
Your role sets what you can do:
-
VIEWER: browse groups and items, and export.
-
EDITOR and ADMIN: also create, change, delete, and import.
If you do not select a Client type, actions are not available and data does not load.
All changes apply to the selected Client type.
Key terms:
- Root paths (schemas)
-
A root path is the top-level prefix of the data. The module uses it to group and filter data, for example
Device.orInternetGatewayDevice.. The UI shows root paths in the Schemas selector and as Root Path in group cards. - Groups
-
A group is a container under a root path. Use groups to put related fields (items) under a clear name.
- Items
-
An item is one field inside a group. An item usually has a Full Name (the full parameter path) and a Short Name (a label for the UI). An item can also have a description, a remark, and a default value.
Find a group or an item
-
Check the Client type in the toolbar.
-
Optional: use the Schemas selector to filter the group list by root path.
-
Use the group search to find a group, then select it.
-
Review the items list of the selected group.
-
Use the item search or sort to find an item, then open it to read its details.
Expected result:
-
The group list shows the group name, the root path, and the item count.
-
The items list changes when you select a group.
-
The item details panel shows the fields of the selected item.
If the group list is nearly empty, clear the Schemas selection to show all groups. You can also use a broader search query.
Manage groups
You need the EDITOR or ADMIN role. Use manual changes for targeted updates. For large updates, use import with dry-run.
-
Click New Group.
-
Enter the Root Path and the Name.
-
Optional: enter a Remark.
-
Save the group.
To change a group, open the group actions menu and select Edit. To delete a group, select Delete and confirm.
Expected result:
The group appears or updates in the list for the selected Client type. If you select the group, the page loads its items.
If you delete a group, the system also deletes all items in the group. If you may need the old state, export a snapshot first.
Manage items
You need the EDITOR or ADMIN role.
-
Select the group.
-
Click New parameter.
-
Enter the item fields, including Full Name and Short Name.
-
Save the item.
To change or delete an item, open it and use the available actions.
Expected result:
The item appears in the items list of the group. The item is still there after a refresh.
After large manual changes, export a snapshot for backup and audit: Export a Snapshot.
Export a snapshot
-
Check the Client type.
-
Click Export Data.
-
Save the downloaded JSON file.
Add the module name, the Client type, and the date to the file name. Store the snapshot with the change ticket. For details, see Export a Snapshot.
Import with dry-run
You need the EDITOR or ADMIN role. Import is the safest way to apply many changes at once. Always follow this order: export, dry-run, apply.
-
Export a snapshot first: Export a Snapshot.
-
Click Import Data.
-
Select the import mode: MERGE or REPLACE.
See Merge vs Replace.
-
Select a JSON file.
-
Wait for the dry-run preview to finish.
-
The dry-run starts automatically after you select a file.
-
If you change the file or the import mode, the dry-run runs again.
-
-
Review the preview summary:
-
the created, updated, and deleted counts,
-
the duplicates,
-
the sections grouped by root path. Use the path filter of the preview to narrow the review.
-
-
Click Confirm import only if the preview matches your intent.
In REPLACE mode, the import can delete the groups and items missing from the file. If the delete count is large, stop. Check the file for missing entries. Check the selected Client type.
Duplicates in the preview mean non-unique entries for this Client type. Review the duplicates section. Remove or correct the conflicting entries in the file, then run the preview again. In MERGE mode, the system can ignore duplicates, as the help text of the import mode shows.
Import safety checklist
-
Check the environment name.
-
Check the selected client type. It must match the file.
-
Export a snapshot before you change data.
-
Run Dry-run and review:
-
the errors: you must fix them,
-
the warnings: you must understand them,
-
the create, update, and delete counts.
-
-
If you use REPLACE, review the deletions in the dry-run plan. Continue only if you accept them.
-
Apply the import.
-
Refresh the page and open the changed entries to check them.
Check the result
After any change or import, do these steps:
-
Check the selected Client type.
-
Open the affected groups and check the names of the items.
-
Check a few groups under different root paths. Do this especially after a REPLACE import.
-
Refresh the page and check the state again.
-
Recommended: export a new snapshot for audit and for a later restore.
Troubleshooting
- The page shows no data
-
The Client type can be missing, or a filter can be too narrow. Select the Client type, then clear or widen the Schemas filter and the group and item searches.
- You cannot create, change, delete, or import
-
You are probably signed in as VIEWER. Only EDITOR and ADMIN can change and import.
- Dry-run shows many deletions
-
You can have selected REPLACE, or the file is incomplete for the selected Client type. Switch to MERGE, or create the file again from a snapshot, and try again.
- Dry-run shows duplicates
-
Review the duplicate sections and remove the conflicting entries from the file. Then run the preview again.
- Import fails
-
The file can have a wrong JSON structure. Export a new snapshot, apply your changes to it, and import again.
