User Guide

This guide is for support and quality assurance engineers and for administrators who work with FT Configs UI. It helps you view and export configuration data. If your role allows it, it also helps you change configuration data. The guide describes practical tasks, safe steps, and expected results. You do not need backend or code knowledge.

When to use it

Use this guide if you:

  • work with configuration data for clients or environments,

  • import or export configuration data,

  • review configuration before or after a change,

  • need to see what will change before you apply it,

  • help other users of FT Configs UI.

If you are a developer or maintainer, use the technical documentation. It describes the architecture, the build, and the API.

What you can do with FT Configs UI

With FT Configs UI you can:

  • browse configuration structures such as frames, parameters, and services,

  • export the current state as a snapshot (a backup),

  • check changes with a dry-run,

  • apply changes with a controlled import,

  • work with different client types and modules.

FT Configs UI helps you avoid unwanted changes. An import always needs a dry-run and your explicit confirmation.

If you are new to the UI, read these pages in this order:

  1. Getting Started: sign in, choose an area, select a client type, and learn the basics.

  2. Safety Rules: avoid data loss and unsafe changes.

  3. Export a Snapshot: create a backup before you change data.

  4. Import with Dry-run: apply changes in the safe, required way.

Task guides

Use these pages for a specific task:

Each task page explains:

  • when to use the feature,

  • what to check before you change data,

  • the steps,

  • the expected results.

Parameter descriptions

This guide explains tasks. It does not list every parameter. The product stores the parameter descriptions and shows them in the UI. The descriptions in the UI always match your installed version. Each module page starts with Where to find parameter descriptions. This paragraph tells you where the module shows the descriptions. Examples are text under the parameter name, a tooltip, or a hint in the edit dialog.

Roles & permissions

VIEWER

Read-only access. You can browse and export configurations.

EDITOR

All VIEWER access. You can also create, change, delete, and import configurations.

ADMIN

All EDITOR access. You can also manage users: create, change, disable, and delete.

If you do not see an action in this guide, your role may not allow it. Examples are Import and Edit.

Safety rules in short

Follow these rules in FT Configs UI:

  • Export before you change anything.

  • Never skip the dry-run.

  • Read warnings and errors.

  • Check the client type and the module before you confirm a change.

The Safety Rules page explains these rules in detail.

Troubleshooting

If something does not work as you expect:

  • Open Troubleshooting.

  • Read the validation messages and warnings in the UI.

  • If you miss access or permissions, contact an administrator.

  • Glossary: definitions of unfamiliar terms.

You can jump directly to the task you need. You do not have to read the guide from start to end.
